WW2 GERMAN LUFTWAFFE GENERALLEUTNANT RITTER VON GREIM TUNIC
This is a WW2 German Luftwaffe Generalleutnant Ritter Von Greim Tunic, with all its gold buttons in place, award loops and ribbon bar fittings in place, also with its gold piping around the collar, the tunic is of high quality, the shoulder boards have been removed as well as the Luftwaffe Eagle, fitted with nice original Generalleutnant collar tabs which has been hand stitched, but the tunic is dated 1944, so it looks like someone has tried to restore the tunic but fitted the wrong collar tabs for the time (These were the collar tabs he had spare and couldn't afford to purchase the other insignias to complete the project) as he was a Generaloberst in 1944, It has a nice original Friedr Wittmann Nureberg name tag, although the name has tried to be removed which happened sometimes, you can still make out Ritter and part of the Greim. This label is dated 26/031944.
This tunic would make a fantastic one to restore to its former glory and would make a great display once finished.
Robert Ritter von Greim (born Robert Greim; 22 June 1892 – 24 May 1945) was a German Generalfeldmarschall (Field marshal) and First World War flying ace. In April 1945, in the last days of World War II in Europe, Adolf Hitler appointed Greim commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe (German air force) after Hermann Göring had been dismissed for treason. He was the last person to have been promoted to field marshal in the German armed forces. After the surrender of Nazi Germany in May 1945, Greim was captured by the Allies. He committed suicide in an American-controlled prison on 24 May 1945.
